Products We Use & Recommend

  • Mini Aussie Doodle wearing a slip leash, happily getting chin scratches

    Slip Leash

This is the most basic dog training tool that we start all our clients on. It is a very basic way of communicating with your dog. We teach our dogs to follow the pressure of the leash as a way of showing them what we want to tell them.

The right position for a slip leash is high up on the neck, right behind the ears. Just like with horsemanship: where the head goes, the body follows.

If you are not comfortable teaching your dog how to walk nicely on the slip leash, contact us today, or find a trainer near you that understands how to teach “slip leash pressure”.

  • Fenrir Hammer

This is a great way of giving your dog an appropriate outlet for natural behaviors like licking and chewing. We don’t recommend leaving stuffed toys and rope toys out, since they are choking hazards.

First, check the package recommended size, and choose something 1 size bigger. For example, if you have a medium sized dog, choose a toy that is recommended for large dogs. Once the toy is worn down, replace it so it never becomes a chocking hazard.

Stuff the hammer with anything from rehydrated kibble to fresh fruit & veggies, yogurt, even ground beef, and freeze it for a few hours to make your own long lasting treat.

  • Australian sheperd puppy in a wire crate

    Wire crate

We highly encourage all of our clients to get a crate for their dog, since this tool can help manage your puppy in a safe way when you can’t pay 100% attention.

It is completely expected that you will be busy at times, and you won’t be able to give your dog or puppy guidance and direction when they need it. The crate is a comfortable place for your dog to hang out and learn to chill while you are busy.

The perfect place to put your dog’s Nylabone chew in 😉

When choosing the right size crate, take this into consideration:

    1. The crate can’t be too big, because this will give your new dog or puppy room to go potty, and this will set back training.

    2. The crate has to be big enough for your puppy to lay down, stand up, and turn around in.

  • Long Line

    Long Line

This tool is essentially a really long leash to practice skills with more distance. This is the step before off-leash control!

We recommend using Biothane long lines, since they are easy to clean and are less likely to cause rope-burn.

Always be careful and aware of your surroundings when using a long line, as they can be a tripping hazard.

Choose a bright color so you can easily see it when it is in the grass.

We do not recommend using a long line in a busy or crowded area.
