Who are we?

Our Team

At FSO Dog Training we believe that having a good relationship with your dog should be at the foundation of everything you do.

Training and living with your dog should feel like a joy in your life, not a struggle.

Every dog is capable of developing an incredible bond with their owner. We consider this bond to be a pivotal foundation for nurturing well-behaved and content dogs.

We are here to teach YOU how to get to your goals with your dog. After all, YOU are the one who has to live with your dog, not your trainer.

It is important to us that you learn tools and techniques that will help you continue seeing success, even when we are not there.

Kayleigh

I believe that every dog is an individual with a unique personality, needs, and quirks.

My focus is always on building a strong, trusting relationship between owners and their dogs.

In my opinion, training is about much more than just obedience. In fact, I find that actual obedience commands can be taught fairly easily once we have established a baseline of communication with our dogs.

This baseline of communication is the bulk of what we will work on together. We can always do more advanced training in the future, but I have found most people just need clear basic communication to live a happy, fulfilled life with their dogs.

I focus heavily on teaching you, the owner, the basics of dog communication and learning. This way you can have a deeper understanding of your dog and how they experience the world. You will learn how to better understand what your dog is trying to tell you through their body language. Understanding what your dog is feeling/experiencing is a huge part of having a good relationship together. If you and your dog are constantly misunderstanding each other, issues are bound to arise.

Now, your dog’s point of view and experience are not the only thing that matters in your relationship. You as the human on the other end of the leash, also deserve to have your side heard. This is where “training” really comes in. It gives us as humans a way to communicate with our dogs. By learning what your dog is trying to say, and learning how to say things back to your dog in a way that they can understand, we can create fluid communication and navigate the world TOGETHER, instead of as 2 separate beings that happen to be tethered together by a leash.

I have spent over 500 hours handling countless dogs, of all shapes, sizes, and ages at my local shelter. I began as a dog walker, but quickly found myself wanting to help more dogs with the limited time I had. So, I learned how to run playgroups with multiple dogs. The dogs there have taught me so much about dog body language and communication, which helps me better understand dogs in general.

I am a firm believer in being a student for life, and I am always working on learning more or gaining a deeper understanding of dogs and different training techniques.

Let’s work together to help you and your dog live the happy life you both deserve!

Part-Time Trainers

Z.

My journey with dogs began during my childhood, raising and caring for different furry companions. Many of them had different needs, drives, and physical abilities that I loved to explore. As I grew older, my passion for animals led me to specialize in animal behavior and neuroscience research at Weber State University.

But it was a life-changing moment when I found myself in need of a Multi-Purpose Service Dog that truly set me on my path as a dog trainer. The moment I welcomed my new fluffy stick of dynamite into my life, I knew I was in for an adventure. Her intelligence and boundless energy amazed me, but I also realized that her high drive would require some expert guidance.

This realization fueled my determination to understand her better and provide her with the training she needed. I delved deep into everything I had learned about animal behavior, narrowing my focus to canine behavior, which opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me. I became absolutely hooked.

My passion for training and working with dogs grew exponentially as I dedicated myself to service and obedience training. It was during this time that my dear friend Kayleigh proposed the idea of starting our own dog training business, FSO Dog Training. Without hesitation, I jumped at the chance to be a part of it.

Now, I am absolutely thrilled to have a fulfilling career where I get to help other dog owners realize the true potential of their canine partners. Being able to create a loving, fun, and productive relationship between dogs and their owners brings me immense joy and satisfaction.

At FSO Dog Training, I put my heart and soul into every session, guiding and supporting both dogs and their humans. My goal is to empower owners to build strong bonds with their furry friends and help them navigate the journey of training with patience and compassion.

Join me and let's embark on this exciting adventure together. I can't wait to share my knowledge, experience, and love for dogs to help you and your canine companion create a beautiful, fulfilling partnership. Together, we'll discover the true joy of a harmonious relationship between humans and their furry best friends.

Michael

Growing up in San Jose, California I spent time with many dogs covering a wide spectrum of breeds, sizes, and personalities. I have been skilled at handling anything from a bishon mix to an Irish wolf hound since early in my childhood.

I am now proud to say that I am involved in a company that donates it’s time and skills toward such a great cause.
